Biography

Peter Michael Abat was born in Washington DC, grew up in Virginia Beach and now calls San Diego home. Music has always inspired Mikey. At the age of 15, Mikey had a following by playing freestyle, hip hop and Miami bass. Influences on his music during this early stage included Ghetto Style DJ’s of Two Live Crew, DJ Laz, and DJ Magic Mike. Mikey’s exposure to house music began in the early 90’s with such artists as C&C Music Factory, Jomanda, and Jungle Brother’s track “Ill House You”. What first captivated his interest in house music was listening to Tony Humphrey sets on the radio station KISS FM, broadcasting from New York City. Mikey’s full awakening to the House Scene arose when he moved to the West Coast in 1998. It is during this time period that he became fully devoted to House music. House music became his church. In San Diego he met DJ’s Brian Cabalic, Robert Lusk, Ramon Valdez, and Mr. Buddha. In 2001, this group of House DJ’s collaborated to form Ilovehousemusic.com. DJ Brian Cabalic got Mikey his first house gig, Higher at Club Sangria hosted by DJ Frank Lara. He has had the privilege to play alongside such DJ’s as Neil Aline, Stacey Kidd, Jaime Thines, Karizma, DJ Spen, Jask, Marques Wyatt, Master Kev, JoJo Flores, Julius the Mad Thinker, John Julius Knight, and Halex M. Most recently he has had the honor to work very closely with DJ ALA as a resident DJ for DIVE. His love for everything Nike led his friends to nickname him Mikeytown. Growing up he always had to sport the newest Nike kicks. This nickname followed him into his passion for House music, as he took this as his DJ name, but it came to mean something much deeper. It is through his music that Mikeytown invites everyone into his world in hopes that they will experience what house music means to him… spirituality, uplifting and soul cleansing. Music is Mikeytown’s religion….House is his church..
